Finally Porsche has decided to unveil its new Panamera, with many details and images for the upcoming sedan. Yet it will officially go on sale in April next year and will make its world debut one month earlier at the Geneva Motor Show. The company is projecting building 26,000 units per year at its Leipzig Plant, but actual production levels will be kept at just 20,000.
The new Panamera measures at 1,931mm in width, 1,418mm in height, and 4,970mm in length, and weighing about 1,800kg. While the interior will be large enough to seat four occupants with ease and comfort.
Porsche has developed a new range of engines designed specifically for the Panamera, with a power output ranging from 300hp (225kW) in the base Panamera, up to 500hp (373kW) in the Panamera Turbo. A mid-range Panamera S is expected to output about 405hp (302kW) from its V8 engine.
Sporting a six-speed manual transmission, and the new Porsche-Doppelkupplung (PDK) dual-clutch transmission will be offered. Customers will also be able to choose between rear and all-wheel-drive powertrains.
The price range as projected will be around €80,000 (SR 375,000) for the V6 RWD model, and up to €125,000 (SR 585,000) for the Turbo AWD variant, yet no final details has been confirmed yet.
But what Porsche plans to do with the Panamera is to radically change the performance sedan market, offering extreme high performance in a more affordable package.
